All Done!

Well, she's done. John and I installed and grouted her this morning. The owner, a friend, is very well pleased. I must say I am too but I was terribly nervous to present it. I didn't want to be there when it was delivered because what if he hated it? But I did want to be sure it was installed just right.

See now my friend just called to say again how much he loves it. I am just about reassured but still I could pick it apart a million ways.

Mary....That is beautiful. You are truly an artist. When we make things, we know every detail. We tend to scrutinize our selves harder than anyone else, that's for sure.

The person receiving such a greart work of art should be pleased for it is fine. Your humility is noted, but kmake no mistake, your work is good.

Now, how did you attacjh to the wall? I see no screws or anything. Doid you hide them beneath pieces of tile. What did you tile onto, plywood? masonite?

Just great, really!

Man! What lousy typing. My fingers must be getting fatter. I'll start to proof read from now on, I promise.

I learned to mosaic whilst I was working for someone who was very talented. I worked my ass off and earned nada. I quit after about 3 years. I am very grateful for what I learned though. It took me quite a few years to get the money to set myself up with my own studio but I knew this was what I wanted to do. This is my first paid piece on my own. My design. Thank you very much for the compliment.

Spado- John used hardi-backer and then a piece of plywood. But close to the perimeter of the fireplace is another piece of hardibacker because of the heat of the fireplace. (Thank heaven for my man because he's got it all for me. He is a very talented craftsman.) We screwed it right into studs and then yes, covered the screws w/tile.
Don't worry. I got your typo's.

Fantastique ...

Unespected, I thought it was going into the usual shower, kitchen, bathroom, bathhouse, or pool setting - didn't expect her to turn up by the fireplace

Gosh, do you think I could use the pic on my blog >>>

Thanks! I'll have to do a post to do it credit. I think the photo the Mosaic is a post in itself. Words superfluos.

Hope you are having a great day. And I'm truly impressed, almost wishing I had a pool needed tiling.
