How Do You People Do It?

So the tiles are fired. (They came out great mostly.) I drew out my template......

transferred the design to the board...

and I am finally mosaicing which for me is the easy and fun part.

My question is how do you all find time to work and blog?

i don't. i'm retired. :) i actually don't have any other real hobbies and i work in the home- so i spend more time than my 40+hour a week contemporaries. it's tough coming up with the time to visit all of the blogs- not write my own.

I agree Betmo. It is definitely hard to read all the blogs. I try. My studio is in my barn so I too am at home. I definitely wouldn't want to drive to work. At least I can get some laundry done.
Beth- It's ok. It is addicting. And really... outdoor activities are kinda out in this heat.

Unless, of course, you're a rhino in heat (the joke is on my blog--in case all of you bloggers are wondering, what the f***?)

Usually, insomnia. :) For me, blogging is my only way of connecting with other English speakers (a good friend of mine back in Illinois insisted I start as I was going through extreme culture shock here in Belgium). Now, I'm hooked. Of course, it is easier when my daughter is in school and not asking every two minutes, "can I see..can I see...can I see?" Right now she is at a play date so the house is blissfully QUIET. I can't wait until school starts on Sept. 1.

Exciting, being able to work, huh Mary?

Now that's the question...finding time to blog AND work. I need to blog, edit, sew, cook, clean, email...huff huff puff puff...

...Right now my life is so upheaved, blogging is my only consistent creative outlet. It also keeps me sane with all the traveling! The posts tend to drop off when I'm busy doing other stuff, like ripping out the kitchen in our new house...

Sothis- I hadn't had insomnia in a while. Working helps me w/that. But here I am at 2:01 am getting my blogging in.
GG- always too much to do but I am so happy to have work and actually pretty amazed to get it so quickly after setting up the studio. I did this same kind of work for another person but it is SO gratifying to work for myself on my own designs.
Lukka- rippingout your kitchen hasn't seemed to slow you down. You have super powers...

Mary, that looks amazing! I am sure the result is going to be beautiful! I have never worked from a template, too lazy! Your tiles have come out great!

Blogging started as a bit of relaxation but it has become an addiction!!! And I love it!

just catching up on your blog!!! HOORAY for the firing & the birthdays (wow! a supermodel mom, now we know where you & your gorgeous kids all get their looks!)

LOVE the mosaic - that one's for me, right? ;)

and to answer your question - kids, job, grad school, blog, teaching - i cry. and don't sleep enough.

you've just discovered the reason so many artists drink.

Cream- I have never worked from a template before either but she was to complicated and as it was not for myself I wanted perfection. Very glad I did it.

I am addicted to and was panicing when I found myself too busy w/work but I see you all are always right were I left you. Nice to know.

Andie- I know you have been quite busy. I've been peeking in on your blog. Gideon is beautiful as ever and you look happy though I know its tough. If anyone can do it all it's definitely you.

Mary...it must run in cycles. And for me, the weather has a large role, and my phyche has another large role, (my belly has a role too, but has no bearing on my work).

I'm retired but have a small shop where I make things, (snowshoes, Hand Drums, Dream Catchers, Rattles, other woodwork). My shop is at home. We have an apartment attached to it. My computer is an a corner of my shop. I sit and blog and write with my shop stuff and started projects right behind me.
Sometimes I draw a complete blank and am powerless to get up and work.

Then again, when I am writing a story, (not a comment), I am actually working on something creative.

Also, like Beth has pointed out in her Blog, I am an addict to the computer screen as well.

Send me some motivation, will ya?

Spado my motivation came in the form of a check. Works everytime. I don't like having things hanging over me.

Ok, how do I get one of these "checks"? :)

Exactly. Oh if I had the answer to that.
