News from Michael

I received a very short email from Michael yesterday. He cursed the internet and said he'd been trying to get to the email for days to get in touch with me. I guess it is just so slow. I was hoping email was going to be a constant source of communication for us. The good news is he will be getting his leave in early February rather than May. I am elated. He said to wait for his call (got that one down) and be ready because though he knows when he'll be leaving he can't say when he will get here. I'm ready.

The bad news is that IED's seem to be everywhere. They are narrowly missing them. Even missing them causes injuries. It's a nightmare. We need to bring the troops home.

I watched the 60 Minutes interview last night. I do despise that man. He can't be human.

We went out for 99 cent taco night at a local restaurant the other night and ran into a bunch of Michaels friends. It was very good to see them. One boy was just out of the Marines. He said Michael was going to need a big party when he was on leave. I'm a little afraid of those young kids but I'm gonna do it.

Yep, that 60 Minutes interview, although used by GW for other reasons, really didn't help his cause.

It should be used as evidence there is something severely wrong with him ; (
Amazing he could actually believe what he continues to spew ; (

Good news about your Son coming home. I'm sure he'll have some amazing stories to share.

Yay that you heard from Michael!!!! I cannot imagine how difficult it is to play the waiting game.

I'd say that young man deserves a party! Let me know when it is, and I'll raise a toast to him in San Diego!

Strange isn't it that the "pro-war bozos" all have never served in the military? I'll support "the surge" strategy right after the Bush twins sign up for active duty. Till then, we need to keep up the push to bring 'em all home asap.

Oh yes! big party - anything to make being home a special thing. When my son came home, he wanted homemade biscuits and I made them everyday for a couple of weeks. He just couldn't seem to get enough. So whatever it takes is the thing to do. I've been wondering what could we do to force Bush and Cheney to resign? Must be something.

My heart sinks every time I read someone's blog who has a loved one caught up in Dubya's lunacy. I sure hope Michael gets through it ok. And I hope history treats G.W.Prick as harshly as he deserves.

I was talking to a friend yesterday and we both agreed that if there was a national leader anywhere in the world(except Jerusalem) even half as belligerent, authoritarian and stupid as Dubya, the US would invade in an instant saying that they posed a threat to the security of the world.

Yeah ! This is the first time I months I've remembered to sign in to Google before I write my comment.

All the other times my comments have just disappeared when I had to sign in after writing them and I just gave up.

Hi Mary,
glad to hear he is well and will soon be back ...
I often wonder though, when you sign up to the military to defend your country, you also sign up to obey orders without question - whether right or wrong - but how do these young men feel about their orders.

I don't mean the camarederie of men under attack from an 'enemy'
I mean about being the invading troops and occupying force or 'the enemy' in a foreign land.

After all there is no fear of Iraq attacking or invading the USA, and there never was

Coffee Messiah- He just keeps forging ahead in his me, me, me world. It's unbelieveable.

Mariamaria- What else can we say about him. It's useless.
Hey, what happened to your blog?

Bluegrrrrl- YOu are the best!

JM- My wish is that Bush and Cheney and their children were right where Michael is for as long as Michael is.

Peacechick- That's funny...biscuits. What a good mom you are. I know I would do it too. Whatever he wants. 15 days is too short.
I would do WHATEVER it takes to get those two out!

Willowtree- I'm sorry for your commenting trouble. I will get this blog all fixed up one day soon. Just very busy right now.
It is very sad and embarrassing for me to have such a lunatic as the head of my country. I hope to never see anything like him again.

Quasar- Sometimes I think Michael doesn't have time to think of anything but saving his ass. In truth I can't say what goes through his head but I wouldn't want to be in his shoes. This is his journey and its a hard one to say the least.

Mary, it's very cool that you heard from Michael. You know that I can relate to what you are going through, deep breaths and coffee should help (a widdle bit). Now you have a signpost, so that should at least give you something to focus on.

A party is a great idea. My DH decided on hours of Xbox360 playing and lots and lots of movie watching when he wasn't hanging out at karaoke with me.

Yeah, they do get wild and crazy.:) There's a reason for that, other than just being kids. They've done something most of us don't do until our 50's or 60's. They've stared their own mortality right in the eye.

Get the party "needs", put two layers of plastic over anything beyond $5 value, Grab John, and get under the bed until it's over!:)

And know some one here waits with you every minute of every day......

Good news that Michael will be home on leave soon! I'm sure he'll want to party with his friends. Is he the kind of young man who will also appreciate a quiet drive in the country with mom?

I'm a little afraid of the First Boy.

Do you think it's time the First Twins showed support for daddy by enlisting?

LOL Ole Blue, we ain't that bad are we? Okay...maybe just a widdle bit. ;) Our reputation for antics during celebrations sometimes far excedes our reputation for the way we fight.

Dizz-Hey whatever he wants. And your right. It helps to have something to look forward too.

TUA- That is some good advice! I think I'll take it!

Just Me- Other than news of him coming home permanently I don't think I could get better news.

Donnie- Yup. Wrap and hide that's my motto.
And I knew you'd be back to comment after Ole Blue. LOL.

Hey Beth! Thanks. Hope all is well w/you.

GG- I'm putting his sister in charge of party planning. It should be fun.

Gary- Well depending on where he flies in I may just get that. I really do hope I get alot of alone time w/him but I know he wants to see his friends.

Ole Blue-You don't have to be a Marine to scare me just a 20-something drinking. But then who knows...maybe I could keep up?

Dawn! Long time. I'm sure you are as busy as ever w/your family.

Yoga- An emphatic YES!

I can't wait! Let me know when the party is so I can clear my schedule (that's assuming old people can come) And I can contribute money to the expense of throwing a party too

On another note, this might make it easier for attending Tish's wedding for you

Good news!

I remember when my brother was in Iraq and I had to wait for his emails, and I can relate to the frustration over the slow servers.

Thoughts and prayers to all of your children tonight, Mary.
