Hanging in there...

oct27.org web button

Didn't think I was going to make it to one of these rallies this weekend but as it turns out I will be in Philly looking at schools so maybe I will have the opportunity to cross paths with that one.

4 weeks until Michael leaves Iraq. Next week he will be moved from a trailer to a tent until he leaves. I'm guessing that means no internet. (Gotta remember to ask.) A couple weeks in Germany and home to Mama! This last month is almost worse than the whole previous 14 mos.

Maybe this college search is a good thing as it gets my head somewhere else. This is some heavy stuff. If that girl brings me info on one more school she is interested in...

I'm going to need a serious vacation once Michael is home and Lisa is accepted at a school. Picture John and I laying on a deserted beach, two lumps unable to move as all the stress melts away, no sound but the ocean.

FOUR WEEKS until he's outa that place! How exciting! It's going to be a great Christmas! Regarding all of the colleges; that's what you get for having a bright, talented daughter! I will enjoy seeing photos of the two lumps on the beach. With your son home safely, your daughter moving forward with her dreams, you will deserve a sweet respite.

Two weeks 'til Germany, or is that four weeks in Iraq plus two in Germany? You must be going bonkers. Hang in there Mary. This is such good news.

Pursey- Unfortunately that's 4 in Iraq plus 2 in Germany but once he's in Germany I'm good. It stinks that 3 of those weeks in Iraq are in a tent. They sure know how to treat those poor kids right after 15 long months.

It must be bizarre opposing the war, and having a son out there - never quite knowing why or what for

Just because, someone took a decision to invade & occupy, and it is a soldier's job to follow orders

LOL!!! You'll smile thru your frustration and go with her to check it out....simply because you are "That kind of Mom." She has a treasure!

I could use one of those vacations myself, right now.

How wonderful. You will have Michael in your arms soon.

I'm helping my Grade 12 daughter look into universities too. Not to mention a stack of scholarship applications. Although she also thinks she might work and travel for a year first. I'll support whichever.

You and John will enjoy that break - be sure to take it.

Quasar- Bizarre and heart-wrenching.

TUA- Well ever since I've been a mom I adopted the "I have no choice" attitude. I couldn't run even if I wanted to. I can't get my head around those who can.

Gary- Yes the scholarships too!

Sumo- I'm really looking forward to it.

No- Really the only one I want for sure.

I am so glad to know that your Micheal will be home soon. I don't understand the "move them into a tent part" that seems kinda cold. Four more weeks and then "lumps on the beach"...boy, do I want to be a lump on the beach. There some time soon will be two lumps on the beach here in California.
