New Car

Michael has been chomping at the bit to get a car. Last night after John got home from work they went up to the car dealer to get what Michael had been looking at. They came home a few hours later with a 4WD truck. Michael was so happy. John was so PROUD. Michael's first vehicle and he bought it himself. We were so happy to see Michael so happy.

He pulled in the driveway long enough to show me and take me for a quick spin but then of course he had to GO! Who's staying home when you have a new car. Remember your first car?

Good for him! He earned it big time.

Yes, I remember my first car - a VW bug that I paid for myself. I was so excited that I couldn't sleep for a couple of nights.

Congrats to Michael! Enjoy and drive safely! My first car was a 1964 Austin Healy Sprite. Basically an enclosed go cart. It didn't even have door handles on the outside. You had to slide the side window open and reach in to open the door. In the summer, we would just vault into it. Kept me out of trouble tho, can you imagine trying to make out in a car that tight?

What a beauty!
You'll have to ask Michael if you can use it for getting you mosaic supplies, Mary.
My first car was an ex-taxi. A Ford Cortina.

Good for him. Now, is he out of the army for good? Can he just move forward and enjoy his civilian life?

Carol- I wanted a VW bug too.

D.- LOL! Too funny. I guess that would keep you out of trouble.

Cream- Not bad for a first eh? An ex-taxi? That's good. I love hearing about peoples first cars. It's always such an "experience".

Pursey- Unfortunately no. He's not done. He has 2 years to go. He's here until Jan 3 and then he goes back to Germany. I'm cool w/that if he stays put.

Good for him ...his very own truck...kind of makes sense that he would get a truck...just being home and all...and good too that he can look forward to coming back to that truck...and you&your family every time...

So to Germany .....as long as it is just there....and you all can talk, have contact and for you some peace of mind....( I guess right?)

hmm, first car...well there was an orange Vega Hatchback we called the Pumpkin...but that was a matching fund situation....a year later I bought my own ...$366 for a 1966 Oldsmobile Cutless....cherry red with creamy interior...had Electric windows and doors and a smoking sound system.... ( named it "George " after George Harrison- went out with alot of Mechanics because of that car... sigh...)

Hope Michael enjoys his freedom & new wheels.

My first car was a little red Toyota Corolla. She ran well, but the exterior paint looked like it was painted on by a broom or very rough paintbrush! You might say it was an artpiece, or an eyesore... it's all in the eyes of the beholder!

wonderful! Just nice that he's home and getting something that he wants and deserves.

My first? Opal Cadet. I learned to drive a stick on the way home, never owned anything BUT a stick for 34 years.

'83 Honda Civic. It was a stick shift, which I didn't know how to drive yet, but I bought it anyway to force myself to learn. Eight months later, someone hit me and totalled it, then sued me for $50,500.

Mary, I can imagine your joy at having Michael home for Christmas.

My first car was a 1955 Pontiac with a Pontiac Indian hood ornament that lit up.

What do I drive now? A 4WD pick-up. Can you believe it? I inherited it from my boy when he moved to Australia.

I am so glad that Micheal, a beautifully handsome young man, now how has a pickup truck. They go together you know. Like peanut butter and jelly. Many blessings for a wonderful holiday, Mary.
