Walk away

“Order is a lovely thing; on disarray it lays its wing, teaching simplicity to sing.”

I love order. In this case though I just have to walk away.

Krissy- Exactly.

CM- If it were clean it would only last MAYBE 1/2 a day.

Tomcat- So can I move this cat in w/you?

Cream- This would be MY youngest son, Johnny's room. Glad to hear I'm not alone.

Hayden- I do love the color.

This was so funny... not the messy room.. I like neat and order as well. But the fact that you video taped it! My girls would have been so furious and upset! I remember pulling out garbage bags of their clothes etc and making them earn them back. Now my oldest is a neat freak.. and the other does her best...lol..

Love the saying... and the colour of the room!

Does that ever bring back memories. I told my son if he left food in his room we would get mice (Your son's room looks pretty clean tho' messy).

One night he came running upstairs shouting "There's a raccoon in my room!"

WHAT!!

I got my broom and headed downstairs. My brave boy was right behind me with the mop.

I knew it couldn't be a raccoon but I thought it could be a squirrel. Turns out it was a bag of peanuts in the shell that had turned over. The nuts were dropping out into a box a few at a time so it sounded like scratching and rustling.

Oh, how old was the warrior? 23!

Mary-- His room looks CLEAN compared to my son's. At some point I demanded that he create a fire lane exit route. I walk away & close the door.
I figure you have to pick your battles. Every now & then I require a real cleaning... but you know... if the kid is doing their school work & getting decent grades, you can let things slide. AS for other chores & general household participation.... I require it. Dishes, laundry assist, yardwork-- hey, if they can get away with doing nothing, they will.
It's not fair to the rest of the world if they have no clue about how to help out or even think about it.

Katie- I don't think it bothers Johnny one wit that I taped it.

Babzy- Good story! Too funny!

Fran- The minute he asks for something or to do something or to have someone over that's when I say "clean up!" It works. My children always had chores. I'm with you. And actually one is cleaning your room every Saturday. But you know how it is. It gets right back to this in a couple hours.

La bellina- I hope you feel better.

Dawn- I almost missed you! Yes I am very aware of the whole weight thing and have really been on top of Johnny. He's doing fine though.
Michael was only back from his 15mos. tour. He still has about 2 years left in the Army. He is in Germany now but will be stationed in Kansas next. We'll see from there.

I almost had a complex there.HEE HEE. Well Germanys better than Iraq and Kansas even better except for the pesky tornadoes that throw houses onto wicked witches. I'm really glad your aware of the weight thing and your kids room is clean compared to mine. I refuse to go in and I may clean it up 3 times a year when I can't take it anymore

Hi Mary!!
I tried to post a comment here yesterday & somehow screwed it up...

I'm sure it's no laughing matter to you, but this vid cracked me up! I might have to post my own video response...I have a feeling I can give Johnny a run for his money with my bedroom/office/blogging cave...of course, he has an excuse, he's a teenager...
